Two in court for failing to pay for Sh 1.5M milk

Two men have been arraigned in court after allegedly failing to pay for Sh 1.5 million milk.

Abdi Yunis Abdullahi and Abdullahi Abdi Ibrahim are alleged to have disappeared after the complainant, Anzal Hussein Maalim, supplied them with 1,100 cartons of milk worth Sh  1,518,000 between 2nd and 7th April 2026.

Investigating officer Corporal Opili Edgar told the court that the suspects were arrested in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on 5th May 2026after a tip-off from the members of the public.

The officer said in his affidavit that investigations are incomplete and if released on bail at the moment, the suspects may interfere with the progress of investigations.

It is alleged that the complainant supplied the said milk at Westlands in Nairobi using a lorry, make Isuzu which offloaded and loaded immediately on to another lorry, a Mitsubishi canter in the presence of the suspects.

“Later on, efforts to trace the accused persons to effect payment of Sh 1,518,000 bore no fruits as they went into hiding at unknown place and switched off their gadgets,” Corporal Opili said.

The court also heard the suspects are wanted for two similar other similar offenses.

According to the investigator said that the identity of the respondents is yet to established as they are suspected to be of Somali origin thus could easily relocate to neighboring countries, noting the porous borders.

For these reasons, the investigating officer asked the court to issue custodial orders to detain the two for 10 days to conclude investigations.

The respondents opposed the application on grounds that the 10 days were excessive. They asked the court to instead grant the police two days

Abdi and Abdullahi submitted that they are Kenyan nationals with families and therefore not a flight risk.

After considering the submissions by the parties, Principal Magistrate Caroline Mugo ruled that there were sufficient grounds for custodial orders.

However, the magistrate found that the 10 days were excessive, therefore, granted the investigating officer three days to conclude investigations.

The case will be mentioned on 13th May 2026 to confirm the status of the investigations and directions.
