A woman has been charged with stealing Sh 1,650,000 from a joint account at Co-operative Bank of Kenya.

Janet Adhiambo is accused of committing the offense on diverse dates between 27th January 2024 and 12th February 2025, at Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited in Kariobangi and Enterprise Road Branch in Nairobi County, jointly with another not before court.

Adhiambo is also charged with impersonation. The court heard that she presented herself at the said bank as Jackline Awino, with intent to defraud.

She denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai and was granted a bond of Sh 500,000.

Alternatively, she can deposit a cash bail of Sh 200,000 and provide one contact person pending the determination of the case.

The case will be mentioned on 24th June 2026 for pre-trial.
