A woman has been charged with forging two affidavits for request of change of mobile phone number at the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
Leah Muthoni Kiongo is said to have purported the said affidavit to be genuine and signed by Stephen Kiongo Karuku and another one by Vincent K. Mogaka to facilitate the transfer of ownership of two motor vehicles from the ownership of the said Karuku.
Kiongo is also charged with obtaining registration of the said vehicles by false pretenses.
According to the charge sheet, she deliberately facilitated registration of logbooks for the two vehicles by falsely pretending that the same had been issued by the Directorate of Registration and licensing at NTSA, a fact she knew to be false.
In addition, Kiongo is charged with unauthorized access of NTSA systems.
The court heard that she manipulated a computer systems operations by bypassing security protocols with the aim of illegally accessing the NTSA system and altered the ownership records of the two vehicles transferring them to Daniel Mutua Tanyai.
She denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai and was released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000.
The case will be mentioned on 26th June 2026 for pre-trial.
