South Sudan national in a Nairobi court over Sh 2M fraud

A south Sudan national has been arraigned before a Nairobi court for allegedly defrauding a businessman Sh 2 million.

John Tong Boul Majuach was presented before Principal Magistrate Daisy Mutai.

However, Majuach did not plead to the charges after his lawyer requested the plea taking yo be deferred for his to try and settle the matter with the complainant.

In the spirit of alternative dispute resolution mechanism, the magistrate deferred the plea taking to 6th June 2026.

In the meantime, Majuach will be detained at Kilimani Police Station.

The magistrate directed the case to be mentioned on 6th June for plea taking or further orders.

Majuach is accused of obtaining Sh 2.1 million from John Stephen Njoroge Macharia by falsely pretending that he was in a position to facilitate registration of a branch of Nairobi Projectors Limited in South Sudan, a fact he knew to be false.

It is alleged that he committed the offense on diverse dates between 30th May and 3rd June 2023 in Kenya.

In addition, the suspect is facing 13 counts of acquisition and use of proceeds of crime.
