A man suspected to be a grandson to the late President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi has been charged with giving false information to the police in regards to a 29 acre piece of land in Karen, Nairobi.
Brian Kiprop Toroitich is accused of informing Corporal Samuel Kagunda, a DCI officer, that Land parcel LR.6967 (Original 5830/1/2) measuring approximately 29 acres located at Karen in Nairobi belongs to his late Father Stephen Kositany, information he knew or believed to be false, intending to cause the said officer to initiate investigations against Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), which he ought not to have done if the true state of facts which such information was given had been known to him.
Toroitich is alleged to have committed the offense on 13th October 2023 at National Criminal Investigations Academy-South C, in Nairobi
He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina.
Through his lawyer, Toroitich informed the court that there is an ongoing case in the Environment and Land Court which was filed in 2021 regarding the said property.
The lawyer asked the court to have the defense supplied with statements and other documents in the criminal case as early as possible in order for them to orepare themselves for the ELC case.
The court further heard that the complainant in this case is the defendant in the High Court case.
Toroitich was released on a cash bail of Sh 50,000. The case will be mentioned on 19th May 2026.
