A man alleged to be an estranged spouse to nominated senator Maureen Tabitha Mutinda has been charged with forging a vehicle registration certificate (logbook) for a Prado belonging to the senator.
Christopher M. Munene is accused of forging the said logbook and purported it to be a genuine motor vehicle Registration Certificate issued by Directorate of Registration at National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
Munene is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 25th January 2023 and 24th September 2024 at unknown place, jointly with others not before court.
In addition, the accused person is charged uttering the forged logbook.
The court heard that on 30th September 2024, at Mogo Auto Limited – Nairobi CBD branch, the accused person knowingly and fraudulently uttered the forged motor vehicle Registration Certificate (logbook) bearing the company name of Rocx Crest Group Limited as the registered owner, purporting it to be a genuine logbook issued by the NTSA.
He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and was released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000.
The court also informed the accused and the complainant that they are at liberty to settle the matter out of court.
