Two charged with stealing blood collection kits valued at Sh 1.1M at KNH

Two men have been charged with stealing blood collection kits and bags worht Sh 1,125,870.

Henry Theuri and Erick Otieno Omedo are accused of stealing four cartons (24 pieces) of automated blood collection kits(Apharetic Kits) and one carton (42 pieces) of ordinary blood bags, the property of Nairobi Region Blood Transfusion Center.

The duo is alleged to have committed the offense on 29th July at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi.

Omedo is also facing a charge handling suspected stolen goods.

According to the charge sheet, on the above date at 0630 hrs, otherwise than in the course of stealing, he dishonestly retained the said blood bags and kit at the said blood transfusion center.

They denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Ben-Mark Ekhubi and were released on a cash bail of Sh 200,000 each.

The case will be mentioned on 3rd October 2025.
