A man has been charged with alcohol without a license and had fake Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stamps.
Clement Nzangi is accused that on 25th April 2025 at Dove court along Isioli Road in Kahawa Wendani in Nairobi, jointly with others not before court, were found manufacturing excisable goods without a license.
Nzangi is also charged with being in possession of thousands of different liqour affixed with counterfeit excise stamps occasioning the taxman excise duty loss of Sh 525,893.28 and VAT loss of Sh 139,093.28.
The alcohol includes 1,420 bottles each containing 250ML of Blue Ice Vodka, 640 bottles each containing 250ML of People Vodka, 120 bottles each containing 250ML of Chrome Gin, 400 bottles each containing 250ML of Chrome Vodka, 35 bottles each containing 250ML of Konyagi, 120 bottles each containing 250ML of Kane Extra, 700 bottles each containing 250ML of Smart vodka, 40 bottles each containing 250ML of Triple Ace Vodka, 360 bottles each containing 250ML of County Spirit, 20 bottles each containing 250ML of Starlight Vodka and 13 bottles each containing 250ML of Hunters Choice.
Other charges include being in possession of excisable stamps acquired without the authority of the KRA and being in possession of excisable goods which have been removed from a place where they ought to have been charged with excise duty before the said duty had been charged.
He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai and was released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000.
