A job agent has been charged with Sh 2.2 million fraud after failing to secure jobs abroad.
Michael Gikonyo Muthoni alias David Mbugua Mungai is accused of obtaining Sh 1,951,000 from Christine Nyambura Nkonge by falsely pretending that he was in a position to secure jobs for her clients abroad, a fact he knew to be false.
Muthoni is also accused of obtaining Sh 300,000 from Purity Watiri by falsely pretending that he was in a position to secure jobs for her clients abroad, a fact he knew to be false.
It is alleged that the accused committed the offense on diverse dates between 5th and 28th October 2024 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, with intent to defraud.
He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and was granted a bond of Sh 700,000 with alternative cash bail of Sh 400,000.
